Andrew Howse – Sports Injury Physiotherapist  

Andy Howse graduated from Manchester University in 2005 and since then has been a Chartered Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. After 4 years of working in the NHS in Salford and Bolton, where he gained a large amount of multidisciplinary experience, Andy travelled for 6 months around South America before settling in Wellington, New Zealand. He was in New Zealand for two years playing hockey and working in a Sports Medicine Clinic specialising further in the Sport Injury industry. Since returning home to the UK, Andy has moved to Bristol and has focused his time mixing between Pro sport and Bristol Physio. In 2022 Andy completed his sonography training allowing him to use diagnostic ultrasound and this was after completing his Master’s in Sport and Exercise Medicine in 2015.

Since 2012 Andy has worked with Basketball.  Firstly for British Basketball, becoming Lead Physiotherapist for the Senior Women’s Basketball Team and then Head of Sports Science and Medicine.  Since 2018, Andy has also worked for Basketball England as Head of Sports Since and Medicine.  This led to two visits to the Commonwealth Games coming away with 2 silver and 1 gold medals.  Prior to joining Bristol Physio, Andy worked for 3 seasons at Gloucester Rugby Club. Elite sport requires high level knowledge of the latest treatment methods in order to get the athletes back to their performance levels therefore Andy uses the most up to date treatments. Previous sports clubs that Andy has worked with include Brooklands Manchester University Hockey Club, England University's, Oxford University Rugby Football Club.  

Andy has a passion for learning the latest and best physiotherapy treatment plans. Alongside the Diagnostic Ultrasound Andy is qualified in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation, Acupuncture, Clinical Pilates, Dynamic Tape Application, Joint Mobilisations and Manipulations. 

Outside work, Andy has played elite level hockey for 15 years playing in the National League in both the UK and New Zealand. He also enjoys playing and watching all sport, running, cycling, sailing and travelling.
